Thallium (atomic symbol Tl) is element 81 on the periodic table. It is a poor metal.

Thallium is extremely toxic and corrosive, not to mention it's also present in small amounts in cigarettes along with lead and cadmium.2 Exposure to thallium can cause thallium poisoning, which consists of damaged Central Nervous System, skin and eye irritation, and birth defects.1

Thallium is one of the most toxic elements on the periodic table, but that doesn't entirely limit its applications.
