Lodestone is a natural type of mineral that has been known to have magnetic properties since the last 2010 years. Lodestone, like all magnets, has a north pole and a south pole. Lodestones are igneous rocks.

The formation of lodestones is disputed, but the leading theory states that they are formed when igneous rock is magnetized by powerful lightning strikes.
