Alkalines can cause pH indicators, like thymol blue, to turn shades of blue and green.

Bases aee solutions rich in Hydroxide ions (OH-). They will have a pH above 7. When they come in contact with lipids, they soap, making them good oven cleaners.


Bases are solutions rich in Hydroxide ions that are not soluble in water.


Alkalines are bases that are soluble in water.
